Help Children in Guatemala Receive the Education They Need to Break Free From the Cycle of Poverty

When you open the door to education, you change the course of a child's life

Only four out of ten children in Guatemala attend primary school. Even fewer get the secondary education they need to break out of the cycle of poverty. A scholarship to Meso Foundation’s Colegio Mesoamericano can help remove the financial barriers that keep these children from getting the education they deserve, so they have a lifetime of opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have.

We develop extraordinary future leaders like Jesús

Jesús has the aptitude and attitude to accomplish great things. But his family doesn’t have the finances to support his education. Thanks to a scholarship to Meso Foundation’s Colegio Mesoamericano, Jesús has thrived in our well-rounded, skill-based learning curriculum and our comprehensive emotional intelligence program. He’s leaving our program with the tools to make a difference in his family and his community.

Work with Redmond to help children like Jesús succeed

It takes $200 a month to educate a child at Colegio Mesoamericano. To increase scholarship opportunities for our students, Redmond is offering a 1:1 matching program. Redmond associates can help Colegio Mesoamericano students immediately, while making a difference that can last for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

How will my donation be used?

We work very hard to keep our administrative costs extremely low, which means that 100% of all donations benefit the students.

Is there a time commitment?

We don’t want to put children in a position where they start their education and then have to stop unexpectedly because their donor drops out. So we do require that Half Scholarship and Full Scholarship donors commit to giving for a certain period of time.

Right now, we offer two commitment options: 6 months or a full school year. Choose the commitment option that feels right for you. And don’t worry, you’ll always have the opportunity to renew your commitment if you want to ensure your child keeps getting the support they need to continue their education.

We know that committing to a long-term donation is a big decision. But we also know these children need support they can rely on. One year of school is a great gift. But our goal is to help them make it to their high school graduation day (or beyond), so they can reach their full potential.

Can I cancel my donation commitment early if necessary?

We understand that unexpected challenges can arise that make it necessary to cancel your donation commitment. If you’ve committed to a 6 month or full school year donation period, you can end your donation commitment early if necessary. We just ask that you give us three months’ notice so we can find another donor for the student you were sponsoring.

Where can I learn more about Colegio Mesoamericano?

If you want to learn more about Colegio Mesoamericano’s mission and educational curriculum, you can visit our website.

Will I get the opportunity to get to know the child I'm sponsoring?

Yes. Half Scholarship donors get one Zoom meeting every six months with the child they’re sponsoring and an adult who will help facilitate the conversation. Full Scholarship donors get two Zoom meetings every six months with the child they’re sponsoring and an adult.

Full Scholarship donors will also receive a handmade gift from their child each year.

Will I get academic updates on the child I'm sponsoring?

Absolutely. Half and Full Scholarship donors will receive quarterly student report cards for the child they’re sponsoring.

Will my monthly donation be deducted from my paycheck?

Yes it will. The amount you choose to donate will be paid via monthly payroll deductions.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Absolutely! Meso Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which makes your donation tax-deductible. You will receive the appropriate tax form at the end of the tax year.

The people of Guatemala are incredible. With partners like Meso Foundation, we can expand our mission of elevating the human experience.
