Meso Trading Post is Open!

After months—if not years—of dreaming about having a space to showcase our projects, we’re thrilled to announce the opening of our very own store in Antigua Guatemala: Meso Trading Post!

This cozy little shop is more than just a store—it’s a hub where 100% of the profits go directly to support the Meso Foundation. Inside, you’ll find some of our unique products, including our coffee, handcrafted earrings, clothing, and so much more!

Our goal is to raise awareness about who we are, create sustainable business opportunities, and inspire more people to join the MESO community.

Beginning of Classes

This January 15th, we kicked o a new school year at Colegio Mesoamericano! In Guatemala, the school year runs from January to October, and it’s always a joy to see the excitement on campus—friends reuniting, kids chatting with their favorite teachers, soccer games back in full swing, and new faces blending in and becoming part of the MESO family.

Leadership Retreat!

As the Meso Foundation grows, our 15 leaders came together for a retreat in Lake Atitlan to align on our mission, vision, and what leadership means at MESO.

One unforgettable challenge had us crossing two ropes to earn 30 points as a team. Crawling earned 1 point, mid-level was 2, and the high level scored 3. The catch? We had to get everyone across, respect comfort zones, and finish on time!

What followed was a mix of bravery, teamwork, and comedy gold. Some faced their fears and jumped for 3 points (cheered on by the team!), while others played the anchor, holding tight to ensure no one fell. There were shaky landings, triumphant leaps, and a lot of laughter.

By the end, we’d crossed the rope and strengthened our bond as a team, proving that with trust and communication, MESO leaders can conquer anything—ropes included!

MESO COMMUNITY

Desirée Mauricio

(Colegio Mesoamericano’s School Principle)

Desirée Mauricio is our amazing school principal!
She began her journey with Colegio Mesoamericano in 2004 as a 26-year-old preschool teacher and, in 2023, stepped into the principal’s role with grace and dedication. Her connection to Meso runs deep —we’ve had the joy of watching her daughters grow up at the school, starting from the moment Desi shared her pregnancy news. One of her daughters, Marcella, has even gone on to attend Snow College, making the entire Meso family proud!

Desi is someone who radiates kindness. She loves spending time with her family, watching movies, and going on long walks. Her calm presence and thoughtful words make her a pillar of our community, not to mention that beautiful smile that inspires
everyone around her. When asked what being part of Meso means to her, she shared:

“The truth is that the school taught me and saw me grow in my professional life. Even though I already was a teacher, it was here that I truly became one, and I absolutely love the school.”
